Commitment to preservation and
enhancement of the environment is an
integral part of McFadden Ltd’s ongoing management and
development
programme.
We will actively seek to reduce any
negative impact upon the environment, as far as is reasonably
practicable, and to enhance it where possible. This objective
will be realised through implementation of a proactive corporate
policy on Health & Safety in the workplace, control of
pollution and care for the environment. Any pollution from
our activities will be assessed and either eliminated or controlled
so far as is reasonably practicable. Site work will be planned
and managed to protect existing trees, hedgerows and shrubs.
At locations where vegetation must be removed to allow work
to proceed, where possible, replacements will be planted on
completion of the contract.
Plant and machinery will be regularly
maintained to ensure that they operate efficiently and prevent
fuel and hydraulic oil leaks or other discharges to air, land
or water. To protect fish and other wildlife, care will be
taken to control the discharge of dirty/contaminated water
or other materials into watercourses.
Machinery will have noise reduction
silencers fitted where necessary and care will be taken to
reduce or prevent dust / noise pollution. We will endeavour
to specify and incorporate energy efficient facilities in
new plant and machinery.
All new and replacement plant and machinery will be of low
emission type.
Procedures are in place to instruct and remind staff of measures
to control
waster. Where possible, paper and other resources will be
reused and waste recycled. We will monitor and control the
use of electricity, fuel, heat and light so as to reduce waste.
